Information on Committee Roles Discussed in May Council Meetin.

Here is some additional information on what each of the committee chairperson roles entail to help give a better understanding of what is required. I feel there may be some misunderstanding that the roles are more time intensive than they really are. Hopefully this attachment will provide some better framework and aid someone in accepting the call.

  1. Family Director (Family Committee Chair)
  • The Vision: To serve as the architect of the “Domestic Church” by planning programs that strengthen home life and nourish faith within our parish families.
  • The Impact: You ensure the Council remains a support system for families rather than a distraction from them, fostering togetherness through spiritual and social growth.
  • The Commitment: You will lead a committee to execute key initiatives like the Consecration to the Holy Family and Family Movie Nights.
  • The Support System: This is an appointed position reporting directly to the Program Director, working in consultation with the Grand Knight.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Recognize deserving families through the Family of the Month/Year program.
    • Support widows of deceased members and families in need through “Food for Families”.
    • Foster spiritual growth via Family Prayer Nights and “Keep Christ in Christmas”.
  1. Community Director (Community Committee Chair)
  • The Vision: To lead the Council’s outward-facing mission by executing programs that combat poverty and enhance the quality of life in our local community.
  • The Impact: Your leadership fosters a positive public image of the Knights of Columbus through visible, impactful acts of charity and service.
  • The Commitment: You will manage specific “Faith in Action” community initiatives and coordinate participation in major local events.
  • The Support System: Appointed by the Grand Knight, you work closely with external community organizations and the council’s Public Relations Chairman.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Organize signature drives such as “Coats for Kids” and the “Tootsie Roll” drive for youth with disabilities.
    • Direct disaster relief efforts and the Global Wheelchair Mission.
    • Maintain accurate records of service hours and project results for council reporting.
  1. Membership Director (Membership Committee Chair)
  • The Vision: To act as the “Steward of Growth” for the Council by inviting new men into the order and ensuring current members stay engaged.
  • The Impact: You provide the lifeblood of the Council, ensuring we meet recruitment goals and achieve the prestigious “Star Council” award.
  • The Commitment: You will oversee both recruitment and retention committees, managing the onboarding process from the first interview to active participation.
  • The Support System: You work directly with the Grand Knight to set goals and often collaborate with the Chancellor, who may lead the Admission Committee.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Plan and execute recruitment strategies like church drives and open houses.
    • Process membership applications and lead prospective candidate interviews.
    • Reach out to inactive members to encourage participation and prevent membership suspensions.
